Newark Academy holds Macmillan Coffee Morning

And Miss Williamson shaves her head! (Whole School - 05/10/2016)

On Friday 30th September, Newark Academy hosted their own Macmillan Coffee Morning. Cakes, coffee and other sweet treats were on sale throughout breaks and lunchtimes with the aim of raising money for Macmillan.

To help raise even more, Teaching Assistant, Miss Williamson, courageously shaved off all of her hair. Student and teachers showed their huge support as she braved the clippers and cheered her on.

Rachael commented: “Unfortunately cancer affects nearly everyone in one way or another. I did this for all the people we have loved and lost but also to support the people still fighting. If we all help then we can all fight this horrible disease together.”

There was also a raffle taking place for someone to win a fantastic cake made and donated by a parent of the school. Tickets were £1 a strip and it was very popular, helping add to the money raised throughout the day.

In total Newark Academy managed to raise a fantastic £523 with donations still coming in! Thank you to every one of you for your contribution and support.
