Year 8
Intent
Our Year 8 students revisit, build on and develop prior learning to further enhance their skills, knowledge and understanding of familiar sports and physical activities. At this point they are also exposed to a wider range of activities such as basketball and table tennis. As a result, they begin to transfer skills they have learned across different sports and activities. Students now start to demonstrate leadership responsibilities, developing their communication and decision-making skills. They are encouraged to analyse their own and others’ performances as both an individual and team performer.

Year 9
Intent
Year 9 PE students work with increased autonomy during their PE lessons. They develop their communication, organisation and management skills further as they participate in more leadership scenarios. They embrace the opportunity to experience a wider range of coaching and officiating roles across a number of sports and physical activities, and can demonstrate and articulate their understanding of these. Students extend their learning of the sporting world through unfamiliar disciplines such as parkour. Growing confidence enables and empowers students to make more immediate and responsive decisions within ever-changing scenarios in sport to execute more advanced skills. They now understand the impact that these skills have on individual and team performance.
