GCSE Cycling at Derby Velodrome
Year 11 GCSE PE students took to the track over a number of weeks to gain GCSE PE practical scores. Throughout their time they showed great improvement learning advanced skills to ride the track.
To finish and to show the skills that they learnt the students embarked on their assessment rides. Pure power was the name of the game in the first race - 200m sprint. Then it was down to pacing in the 500m (females) and 1km (males) time trials. Some fantastic results showed the high level of riding from our students.
The final race put together all of the tactical skills that were taught throughout the course. Tactical riding, using the the track banks and the racing line really showed the skills of the riders.
A wonderful experience for our GCSE students with some great results.
